Jon Prophet Band Bio
Born a saint in the city of sin, Prophet's music offers a sweet tonic for the trails and tribulations of the human heart schooled as he was from his early years on classic rock from Europe and America to classic country and the blues legends. Motivated by metaphysics, Prophet engages the audience to do more than listen passively but to "hear and act". His intense voice is haunting yet soulful and belts out with sad and seismic passion that unfurls like a sail in a summer storm. A delicious miracle elixir, Prophet blends ethnic, punk, sweet soul, hybrid blues, neo folk and experimental influences to create music that is both unique and familiar like that new vintage coat that just screams "Yes!" when you put it on. And to reinforce the malleability of his sound Jon has shared the stage with a diverse range of artists including; The Foo Fighters, P.O.D., Star Flyer 59, Mike Knott and even country legend T.G. Shepard.
Focusing now on a neo classic Indie rock sound Prophet is backed by long time drummer and high priest of the big beat Pete Mott. Mott stumbled across bassist Steve Young while rocking god's greatest hits as hired guns at a local church and the two found a common rhythm. Guitarist Chris Forenz was recruited from a local Pink Floyd Tribute band to handle the bulk of the guitar so Jon could get down to the business of selling snake oil. Prophet recounts "Getting Chris on board was like having another me to play my guitar parts. He learned every nuance and then improved upon it." Having migrated from Utah where she fronted her own successful band Jon met with Wendy J and convinced her to lend her exquisite backing vocal talents to the mix thus bringing to life the layered harmonies Prophet had recorded on his debut release "A New Religion". "The energy of our live show I will put up against any band." says Prophet. "This band has it all, the visuals, the songs, the energy, the musical execution and it's getting better all the time. We take people for a ride and we engage them. I'm not just chit chatting up there on stage. I'm drawing out of the audience their own deep desires to have a holy moment, where they stop looking at their watches and around the room and are truly lost in the experience. Where just for a while they can taste something eternal, and I show them how they can take that with them all the time. We (the band and the audience) work together to create a sacred space where ever we are and the result can be beyond words."
Jon Prophet is currently working with his band on his third recording tentatively titled "Soap Box Heroes" which is due out early 2006.

Jon Prophet is a true songwriter and musician... You simply cannot compare him to any other artist. His music is such a refreshing contrast to the mainstream corporate blah, blah, blah that is so prevalent in today’s music scene. Each track on the album has the ability of conjuring up different emotions, and by the end, the journey leaves you wanting more. His songs are truly artistic and expressive, showcasing the sometimes melancholic beauty of life. A New Religion has been a very personal and insightful album for me... I'm genuinely moved by Jon’s music every time I listen to it.

A NEW RELIGION / Jon Prophet Jon Prophet Music 2005 Jon Prophet is a rare find in the music industry today. He is a breath of fresh air compared to the other "artists" that rule the airwaves. 'A New Religion' is an excellent CD with songs that you can never get tired of. Even the subjects range, from light-hearted songs like "Like A Train" and "Lust and Pride" to songs like the groove laden mover, "Bellyache". Then you have the Pop/Punk flavored song “As Good As your Yesterday”, where he reminds us to "see the will of the god who has fallen now YOU believe in ME!". Jon Prophet is a talent that half the artists, even a third of the artists today, can not compare to. What's popular in today’s society is teeny-boppers like Ashley Simpson with voices who are enhanced for their CDs. But Jon Prophet dares to be himself, even if it doesn't jump him to super-stardom. And that's what makes him, and his music, so special. Jon Prophet, expresses himself really well and the words flow his heart and soul that connect so well with the listener. Trust me, I am not an easy one to win over, Jon Prophet is amazing and his song writing is incredibly insightful. 'A New Religion' comes highly recommended... and I can't wait for a sophomore album. - The Atomic Chaser HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
