notes
The Artist:
Jon Sarta' playing is a mix of Classical, 70's Rock, Stride, Ragtime, Gospel, Jazz and Boogie Woogie. Originally from Ridgewood, New Jersey, he studied Classical music during High School under L.G. Wray from the Julliard School of Music. He is a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University and also did two years of post graduate work at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He currently performs solo at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel in Orlando, FL, in additional to regular performances at Walt Disney World.
The CD:
Boogie Woogie Salad is a creation that has evolved over the last 4 years. It was time to get it out, warts and all. All songs are first or second takes. No overdubs or creative editing. Just like the old timers, whatever came out came out. If the track had a great groove and there were a couple of clams, they were left in. No cheating. Hope you enjoy it.
This project is dedicated to my father, Dick Sarta, who gave me a great appreciation for the masters of Boogie Woogie; Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson, Pine Top, and Jimmy Yancey. The artwork of the fingers and keys is from Albert Ammons release on the Boogie Woogie Label, date unknown.
Other Recordings:
Absolute Boogie
The Catholic Music Project Volume I
The Catholic Music Project Volume II
The Catholic Music Project Volume III
All are available at CD Baby or the MLJ Music Website.

received BW OK loved it
author: Jack Brodersonlvd it has Many tempos to listen or dance to as is felt
Authentic, percussive, boogie woogie.
author: Howard SmithThis is really good stuff. If anything it's a bit short. Not that it matters, because I find I'm playing over and over again. Very infectious!
This guy has gotta' put out more stuff.
author: sleazoLove it,great original stuff...have nearly worn the grooves off the disc. Nice to hear pure music without all the electronics or a poor singer trying to sound better through that wizzardry. Look forward to Sarta's next one.
outstanding
author: Kenneth E. Odom Sr.Pleasure to hear good boogie woogie music--Thanks
Outstanding Boogie Woogie
author: MadelineFantastic piano boogie woogie. I was ecstatic when I heard the songs. I play this cd on my computer and just purchased another one so that I can play it in my car, also.
Solid Boogie
author: JTGood Solid Instrumentals. Curious about the review by Awerdenty, there are no vocals!
Great piano, too many vocals
author: AwerdentySarta is an excellent Boogie pianist, but the songs are slanted heavily to pop vocals instead of traditional instrumental versions.
I liked his style of boogie woogie on the piano.
author: Elmer L. HallI did not give a rating in no. 4 I will only say I would like to hear more by him especially his rendition of slow blues (yancey)
