Josefus released an independent album in 1970 that is still being sold today. Their Dead Man LP has been reissued by several U.S. and European labels, and the original is listed in Hans Pokora's "1001 Record Collector Dreams" as a "very rare" item.
International critics with many different publications and web sites have called Josefus one of the best underground bands from that era. They were on the leading edge of original music that was evolving from 60s psych to 70s heavy.
This 2002 release contains recordings spanning the years 1967 to 1979, and is the first ever from the band to include live concert performances.

Texas' finest at their best
author: Kevin Rathert
While Josefus' studio albums rocked until the cows came home this live recording is proof positive that their best performances were saved for concerts. Thank goodness the tapes used to compile this album survived some 35 years. Hear Josefus at their best. This is Texas psych that puts Josefus on the same hallowed level as Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators and Mike Knust and Fever Tree. Get it while you can.

Bring back the memories!

I grew up in Houston and I saw Josefus at some of the concerts that are recorded on this CD. This is a band that was very underrated and never got the chance to show how really great they were to a larger audience. I highly recommend this CD to the original people that were there in the 60's and those that were not old enough but are curious about what great music and musicians we had back then.
