Joselyn has released her debut EP, "wildrootswomen" with Calabash Productions. The album is an exciting mix of styles and genres, executed with skill and soul. Warm jazz instrumentation, blues guitar, upright bass, driving world percussion, sweet flutes, piano, drums, and rich harmonies perfectly complement Joselyn's beautiful voice and passionate lyrics. Joselyn is a versatile singer, songwriter, percussionist, dancer, and poet. She grew up in the mountains of Montana, but her love of music has taken her around the world. After years of study and research in West Africa and a degree in World Arts & Cultures at UCLA, Joselyn founded ADAAWE, "women of the drum and voice". Over the past four years, Joselyn has performed and recorded nationally with ADAAWE, while continuing to write, record, and perform her original music in Los Angeles. She has also performed with Makina Loca, the African Brazilian Connection, Circle of Rhythm, and others.
A dynamic and stunning performer, Joselyn uses dance, movement, world rhythms, and spoken word for a powerful live performance. Her music tells a story, and the concert transports the audience to another world. Each powerful song - from the introspective jazz rhythms of "I Remember" to the world fusion pop of "Healing"- is one piece of a whole concept, which integrates body, mind, and spirit. With an original image and sound, excellent musicians, and an exciting live presentation, Joselyn is an artist to watch. This could be the beginning of a new movement in music.
