Joselyn's music of is an experience of "organic soul" infused with funk, blues, folk, spoken word and world rhythms. Her lyrics come straight from the heart, transported by lovely melodies, and tell stories of soul searching, love, and the struggle for justice. In a cynical world, Joselyn's music is a breath of truth.
Joselyn is an unstoppable singer, songwriter, percussionist, dancer, and poet. She grew up in the mountains of Montana, and her love of music has taken her around the world. After study in West Africa and a degree at UCLA, she founded ADAAWE, "women of the drum and voice", while continuing to write, record, and perform her original music in Los Angeles. Joselyn also founded and produced, "Sister Celebration 2001: Women in Music, Dance and Spoken Word" at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Hollywood, with her company, Calabash Productions. "Joselyn & wild roots" is her latest project, featuring her soulful voice and vibrant songwriting.
Joselyn has released her independent debut EP, "wildrootswomen", and follow-up "Live In Studio" EP, "I Remember". This work is a funky mix of styles and genres, executed with skill and soul. Bluesy guitar, funk & upright bass, driving percussion, sweet flutes, drums, and rich harmonies complement Joselyn's beautiful voice and passionate lyrics. With an original image and sound, excellent musicians, and an exciting live show, Joselyn is an artist to watch. This could be the beginning of a new movement in music.

Funky. Sassy. Groovy.

I 'discovered' Joselyn's work while hiking one summer in Alaska, and found her to be the perfect counterpoint to the landscape. 'Remember' is funky, sassy and groovy: earthy folk with a satisfyingly acoustic punch to the percussion and the most organic sound to the accompanying flute since 'It's a Beautiful Day' disbanded. Don't pass up the promo video included on the CD!
