Born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal.Jose traveled throughout the world to learn about people,food,language and music.
Jose Maria, singer songwriter, performs traditional and contemporary Portuguese music with a strong influence from his many travels in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. As a solo artist or with his band The Clinch Fado Boys, Jose presents a unique musical perspective that is purely "Portuguese". Jose's musical narratives touch on themes such as home, journey, loss and fulfilment.With his time-honored sense of story telling, Jose offers beautiful Latin melodies as well as raucous and driving rhytms. This cd is just wonderful!

The the singer blends his voice beautifully with the strings, keyboard and percussions, and everything comes together in a way that relaxes you makes you feel like you're walking through town or along the coast; it really is comfortable and soothing. I thoroughly enjoy listening to this artist "tell" me about Portugal through his music; the style and sound he produces make me want to play the recordings over and over.
