“I Bid You Welcome Part # 1 is a Quintessential Modern Masterpiece!"
author: Tommybond1989
In my opinion, “I Bid You Welcome - Part # 1 is a Quintessential Modern Masterpiece!" There isn’t time or space to cover each song, however I’ll expand my opinion on a select few.
The opening track “M.D.” is a great launching track! It provides an excellent balance of high-energy Guitar Solos and Real Life, yet humorous lyrics satirizing the U.S medical profession. This song is an absolute must listen to! It can not simply be summed up by two lines, however two great ones which I can honestly relate to are “So before you enter my waiting room, I start to guess and analyze you!” For what it's worth, I’d love to hear Malgeri’s take on the legal profession.
This CD is far from predictable. Unlike many of today’s performers, there is a clear distinct difference in every song on “I Bid You Welcome”. As an example, two songs after we receive a dose of mildly dark humor on the above mentioned track, we are introduced to a slower and crystal clear guitar solo opening into a very heart-felt and far from cliché set of lyrics in “I Cheated Myself”. As it did for me, this far from sappy tune will likely provide tremendous mood and feeling to a conscientious listener.
Astral Worlds has a really fresh and original outer-space feel. My guess is Joseph A. Malgeri didn’t have this in mind, however I can visualize this song being an excellent enhancement and leading track for the soundtrack to an upcoming high quality Sci-Fi (or) Space Film.
I don’t want to sound like a movie critic searching for potential soundtrack additions; however in “The Midnight Escort” we are introduced to another outstanding tune. While entirely different in sound and meaning from Astral Worlds, I could honestly see this as the leading song in a number of different movie themes. Perhaps a high-quality portrayal of “Jack the Ripper”?
Malgeri introduces us to excellent satires of the corporate world in both “The Positive Mental Attitude” and “Companyman”. If you’re not a fan of deep lyrics I feel bad for you. Even still, the guitar lead in “Companyman” is a treat for all (even the intellectually lazy!). One of my favorite lines on this track is, “Companyman in a crowded shop, like a tank of Rats you claw the top!”
Although not a high-energy song, one of my personal favorites is, “Mathematics Teacher”.
The closing track “Your early morning Gospel Preacher” has a guitar intro you’ll want to listen to over and over. It’s a fantastic spin on organized religion, and incorporates numerous current event topics into the lyrics making this so genuine it’s honestly eerie. I don’t have time or space to go into any more details, however I’m really pleased with my purchase!
As a parting shot, I’ll say this…… Anyone capable of supporting an honest open-mind, will find the lyrics and music to each track nothing short of incredible! If you are not into seeking and exposing the higher and uglier truths which are hidden beneath layers of dogmatic camouflage, than my advice to you is to stay away, as this Joseph A. Malgeri MASTERPIECE is out of your league.

This guy should be called THE GREAT ONE!!
author: Byron
Malgeri’s guitar skills are beyond impressive. In fact his guitar playing has left me stunned. Perhaps even more so, I am truly overcome with the borderline genius creativity of his lyrics. One can definitely see Frank Zappa, Lou Reed, and Bob Dylan were all inspirations to this artist’s lyrics. At the same time, it is easy for one to pick up on the guitar influence (but not imitation) of David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, and in my humble opinion a little Jimmy Page and Carlos Santana too. Too often a musician tries so hard to sound similar to someone else, they lose their own identity. Malgeri is at the opposite end of the sell yourself out arena. If you enjoy intelligent lyrics, occasional clever sarcasm, great guitar playing, and truly refreshing originality you will be beyond pleased with this CD! I believe that this is the 1st CD by Malgeri, I also bought his CD 'Back in Time.' I’m very interested in purchasing the others, and can’t wait to see them all listed for sale soon! I’ll check back!
