Loaded with "Boom-Twang"
author: James Hurley
This is a damn good sounding record. It's loaded with that "boom-twang" that I immediately associate with Texas. I can't say exactly why that is either...'cause it certainly doesn't remind me of any particular artist. The standout tracks for me were; "Top Ten"...From the very first measure I was fascinated..the groove, the tones, the vocal, everything combines to create a dark, mysterious, landscape in which the listener is waiting to hear the next line....very cool. "Beautiful Heart" - Here's that anthemic boom-twang I mentioned. I'm a sucker for this kind of story song. And of course "Weeping Willow" - There really isn't much to say about this song that it doesn't say for itself. I've wondered how you would approach production on this one and I was very, very pleased that you decided to let this wonderful song breathe. Just enough to create the ambience...without overstating anything...very tasteful.... :^)
