JOSE SUICIDIO was born to Cuban emigres Ramon and Eva
Suicidio in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 26, 1968.....
“Don’t get me wrong; I can revel in the darkness with
the best of them. But Suicidio traffics in an overwhelming,
all-consuming gloom; in more deft musical hands -- those of
a Tom Waits or Nick Drake, for example -- such a mantle
could possibly be worn with grace and poise. But his utter
lack of irony, humor, subtlety, or redemption (on any level,
or in any guise) violently hog-ties the listener and drags
him into a morass of depression so deep and unrelenting that
one forgets they are ostensibly processing art created by
one human being for consumption by another, let alone
anything that could even be loosely defined as
‘entertainment’.” -- SPIN Magazine
