After an illustrious career on the national and international blues circuit, and 3 previous original CD releases, this world renowned crooner throws his hat into the international blues ring with the effortless virtuosity of the seasoned artist that he is. From the start, this mostly original collection of songs reflects the spirited diversity that is Josh Alan. Backed by an outstanding rhythm section, bassist Robby Garner and percusionist Derek Rougeot, this album is drenched with Josh's famous signature Texas blues guitar sound. "Josh Alan, Czar of Atomic Acoustic Guitar." He won three Dallas Observer Music Awards for Best Acoustic Act, and rocked whole arenas with his Guild D-40, opening for such acts as Johnny Winter, Bad Company, War, Huey Lewis & the News, Marianne Faithful, John Hammond, Mitch Ryder, Lonnie Mack, Gatemouth Brown, Koko Taylor, Hal Ketchum and Shawn Colvin. Guitar trademarks include acoustic feedback, surf instrumentals and an acoustic medley of Black exploitation movie soundtracks. A prolific writer as well, Josh has written numerous published books and articles. The Josh Alan Band is his fourth album, showcasing his electric blues power trio. The CD debuts the unreleased Leiber & Stoller song, "Strike A Match," written for Howlin' Wolf in 1955, then "lost." Sax legend Fathead Newman, and Miles Davis organist Bernard Wright, guest on the CD. Josh has produced, recorded and/or performed with Keb' Mo', Grandmaster Flash, Kinky Friedman, Bugs Henderson, Robert Crumb, John Hammond, Cafe Noir, Trout Fishing in America, Sara Hickman and dozens of Texas bluesmen.
