Album Notes

There are certain individuals who are blessed with extraordinary talent. Sometimes those talents unlock one's destiny, while some can go undiscovered, undeveloped, or completely wasted all together. For Josh Boots, talent was never an issue, it was more a question of which form and direction it would take. As a high school star in two different sports, Josh looked destined to go on to college and then proceed onwards as a professional athlete. But there was another passion burning deep inside that was waiting to be discovered, this is when Josh Boots started writing his first song.

Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, Josh Boots played hockey and football most of his life. It was evident right away from his competitive nature and desire to be the best at everything that this young man was going to be a star at whatever path he chose to take. Though sports were his main focus, Josh loved to be the center of attention and entertain anyone who would give him the opportunity. He entered talent contests in school and was always the class clown in every grade he ever attended. His interest in music and hip-hop in particular started as early as elementary and truly took center stage in the last two years of high school. During this period at East High School, Josh Boots was recognized as an all-state football player and a dominant force in a hockey rink at 6'3" and 240 lbs. It was this presence that gave Josh the confidence to express his thoughts through lyrics and deliver them to an audience the way he intended, with passion, aggression, and truth. It did not take long for Josh Boots to be known as a talented MC as well as an excellent athlete.

After deciding that music was his true calling, Josh Boots shifted his focus into making his first album with Star Spangle Grammar, a group he formed with some of his high school friends. Soon after the album was released to the public, the group merged with Arctic Flow Records and Josh began working on the label's first album, Akream's Way Too Cold, as well as a solo project. Arctic Flow was beginning to perform frequently around Anchorage and Josh's stage presence demanded that the observers nod their heads in agreement that he and Arctic Flow were about to take the city by storm. Josh Boots' Cold Weather Survival Guide album hit the streets and quickly pushed Josh Boots into the spotlight where his single would become a favorite on Anchorage's hip-hop stations. Now believing that he had proved to Alaska that he was the state's predominant MC, he decided to take his talents outside of his hometown and look to show off his skills elsewhere.

After a two-week trip to Europe and a two-month journey across the United States selling CDs, Josh Boots gained so much confidence that he believed he was better than most MC's in the game, signed or independent. This confidence showed every time he picked up a microphone as he displayed to all that Josh Boots would be a name they would always remember. Now with fans across the globe, Josh Boots has a duty to fulfill and new music to delver. In 2004 Josh Boots will release his sophomore effort and appear on two other Arctic Flow albums. There will be a video for his first single and he will also co-star in Akream's video this summer. Josh Boots is prepared to take on the music industry itself and the world as a whole.
