An exceptional first album!
author: tifighter
Josh produced this album on small means and a lot of luck. Don't think for a minute that the sound suffered though; this album has an exceptional sound for being independently produced. 'Better State of Mind' and 'You Were My Friend' are definitely the favorites here, the former about the struggles of an independent musician trying to stay positive on the hard road he has chosen. 'You Were My Friend' is a song dedicated to Josh's late friend Tony, who died of complications from diabetes. The song is beautiful, with oboe and double-bass accompanying a haunting finger-picked guitar melody. Other standout cuts are 'Up To You' and 'Circle of Life', which is definitely not the song you might be thinking of from the Lion King. Overall a great first-time effort, and well worth the purchase. Keep a look out for Josh's second album, due out in 2006!
