Album Notes

"I have been playing guitar for a few years; but I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I love to write songs, play guitar and sing in front of people and my ultimate dream is for someone to love me for it". -Josh Ortiz

"The Sotto Voce" is a six song journey through love, happiness and anger which are common emotions that every person goes through in they're lives. The honesty in his voice gives you the feeling that Ortiz is just the all around boy next door..
"The Sotto Voce" is also the very first release from this singer/songwriter. It was produced and recorded at the home of Peter DiStefano (guitarist for the band Porno For Pyros).

History:

Born in Oxnard, California; singer/songwriter Josh Ortiz radiates positivity and sings with a rawness in his voice and lyrics that come straight from the heart. He began writing songs at an early age; but he has only been playing guitar for a few years. His musical journey began in 2002 when he formed a band called the "System Blues" While singing in the band he started to really appreciate his acoustic guitar more and more and began to play every now and again. Before recording his first solo ep, Ortiz would only perform for friends and family.
Soon after that his band feel through some rough times and he found himself a solo artist. Sometimes good things come from bad things because soon after his band broke up he recorded "The Sotto Voce Ep" at the home of Peter Distefano (solo artist and guitarist for the band Porno for Pyros). The six song ep has a rustic yet emotional feel to it and Ortiz does a good job of staying true to his folk rock roots. Through all of his experiences, Josh Ortiz is growing both as a musician and also as a person.

"I am just a guy with a guitar who is willing to pour his soul out for you. The music is brutally honest and the words and melody come straight from my heart. LOVE me once and I will LOVE you back a thousand times more"!!-Josh Ortiz

"Josh Ortiz is an aspiring young musician in my local area of Ventura, CA, and he's a great guy! He's got a CD of his music, and the thing I really like about it, is the honesty and rustic feel that his music blends. He is talented on the guitar and has a calm, yet radiant voice. By the way he's a good video guy too"!!! -Benji DuBose

Josh and I are good friends; but that's not the only reason why I think his music is good. I like his music because it's brutally honest. My favorite song on the album is "Decent Man". It has some great lyrics and good guitar playing. He has a good voice and I guarantee you won't meet a sweeter guy than Josh. I love the guy. Check him out...it's good stuff. :)
