Songs that retain the pop sensibility of another era: catch-tunes that could easily be at home on a Rick Rubin-era Johnny Cash album and earnest lullabies that rekindle the warm glow of a young Will Oldham.

This is my second album of Josh's and I'm enjoyng it just as much as Hello Starling. Josh paints pictures for his listeners with emotional and thought provoking lyrics. Josh deserves much more recognition here in the UK than he currently gets.
refreshing after a long time
author: Stjepkoafter a long time, I may say that I have fount an intersting artist. He has it all - music, lyrics and interpretation. Way to go Josh!
"Golden Age of Radio" shows Mr. Ritter's maturity and bittersweet side
author: a.m.e.This cd is another testament to the beautiful, haunting, and astute poetry of Josh Ritter's lyrics. A little darker and a little wiser than earlier cds, "Golden Age of Radio" is no less potent.
High Water Rising
author: andrewThe First josh cd i started with was hello starling, after reading a few good things about him i decided i'd check him out and see if i was hip to what he had to say.Well needless to say i was blown away by his simple guitar chords that fit perfect with intelligent and heartfelt lyrics. Now a year later i decided to finally check out golden age and again he nailed it....you can see how much he grew and matured as a songwriter from golden age to hello starling. This cat will be around for a long time leaving us scratching our heads trying to figure him out.
earthy, thoughtful
author: Molly YoungCaught Josh Ritter's "Roll On" on local public radio in SLC, UT: KRCL, was hooked by that one tune and tracked down the album and also found CDBaby at the same time. Imagery that reminds me a bit of Neil Young with it's balance of simplicity and depth. Lovely, mellow and artless
Strum On
author: Ezra SoifermanI'd never heard of Josh Ritter before browsing the CD Baby web site. I tested a few tracks and was sold. My type of strum going on. The CD just arrived (along with its bonus CD) and I've been listening for a few days straight. Immensely warm, touching, twangy and satisfying. Looking forward to hearing more by Josh and recommending him to friends. More people should know about him... and of course, enjoy his tunes, too.

The Irish certainly know a good musician when they hear one: first embracing David Gray many years before his overdue recognition and now Josh Ritter. I just recently purchased "Golden Age of Radio" as my first Josh Ritter CD and I love it. Thus far, everyone who has heard me playing it, responds by asking who it is. I think that is an appropriate compliment for a very good album and a promising young musician.

Amazing lyrics, down to earth, beautiful vocals
author: Abby HitchcockA friend introduced me to Josh and now I'm hooked. This is the second CD I have. His words are succinct and so meaningful at the same time. Great imagery. Highly recommended.

really, really enjoy this cd. just ordered his new one, and can't wait for it to get here. wonderful lyrics. this guys knows how to put words together and the melodies aren't too bad either (understated) josh has got it going and i'm picking up everything he's done. my faith is restored. there are songwriters out there with integrity. captures the american landscape. read the other reviews, i can't add anymore.
Listen once and you'll be trying to write your own songs.
author: Josh GentryI do not want to say that Josh Ritter is a "new Dylan" or the second coming of Townes Van Zandt, because he is definately the first Josh Ritter. I do want to say that catching his first album before he has exploded into mainstream consciousness must be similiar to what it was like to discover Dylan or Townes when they were still getting started. His song writing is at that level. In addition, as my wife points out, he sings better than a lot of "your raspy male singers". After listening to the album I immediately started writing my own lyrics. Yes, they're bad, but I'm having a ball. Thanks, Josh
