Joy Bogen was brought to the attention of Kurt Weill's widow Lotte Lenya who undertook coaching the young soprano. Ms. Bogen is the only singer who had the privilage of such tutorage (Lenya a Life by Donald Spoto). This brought concerts in London, Helsinki, Portugal, Spoletto; Italy, Washington D.C.'s Kenedy Center and many others. Coming from the feild of opera which such roles as Violetta in Traviatta, The Countess in Figaro, Adriana Lecouvreur, Macbeth... Lenya's advice "Don't move, and don't sing too much." It was a whole new world for Ms. Bogen.
