Album Notes

Joy has always been influenced by R&B/Soul music, and later in her singing career Jazz music. From listening and learning the songs of legends Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, and Bill Withers to more recent artists such as India.Arie, Amy Winehouse, and Lauryn Hill, Joy has always found herself singing and deciphering their songs by ear on the piano or guitar. During her undergraduate years at UMass Amherst, Joy explored into Vocal Jazz music which is featured on the EP as well. Although stylistically eclectic, Joy Is Here is a display of all of Joy's musical influences throughout her music career.
