Into the Wake
All these songs either came from dreams (mostly the melodies, but sometimes the imagery and even the words), or from dream-like activities (washing the dishes in a daze, collecting kindling for a fire, or gardening). I think we enter another state of reality while engaging in these activities. Things emerge that are healing to the soul and connect us to a greater reality beyond our understanding. Hopefully these songs are somewhat healing to your soul, either by making you smile or connecting with you in some other way. When the songs come in dreams, I often record the idea as soon as I wake up. They are like little seeds that the song grows from. I included little clips of those spontaneous recordings before some of the songs as a sort of weird way of getting to know the song.
Thanks for listening, and enjoy!
