Joy Voeth is a world-class vocalist with a soulful and sophisticated sound. The Barbadian-born songstress spent much of her early life in Germany, where she discovered the experimental sounds of trip hop and electronica. She later moved to the United States and immersed herself in the world of jazz greats such as Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, and Cassandra Wilson. With the remnants of roots reggae from her island home still flowing in her veins, Joy now emerges with her own alchemy of sound. Joy's self-titled debut album journeys into the realm of Ambient Pop and Electronic Dance. Smooth vocal harmonies over cool grooves and percussive beats. A chill vibe with a bit of a kick to it.

Excellent lyrics and a wonderful voice!

Uplifting album. Excellent lyrics and a wonderful voice! I was expecting more jazz idiom so I was a bit disappointed that the music is pop but it's a great CD to play in the car. Definitely recommend.

Wow! Listening sends chills down my spine
author: John Robinson
Listening to this CD sends chills down my spine!! What a voice... a true gift to the world. She has an excellent voice with an upbeat positive vibe - WOW!! Songs like "What Do I Know - track 2" & "Keep on Choosing - track 6" are as much feel-good poems as they are a place we can all draw inspiration. I can already hear "Strange Days" as a movie soundtrack. A 5 Star debut album - a must-have for every collection.
