"Mobley St. Blues" CD notes

This recording is the second collaborative effort by John Paulson & Larry Price. Their first was the CD recording "Tower Blues" released in 2001. Since then, the quartet represented on that recording was featured on Minnesota Public Radio's famed "Morning Show" as well as performing at numerous venues throughout the Midwest. "Tower Blues," along with other CD's by John Paulson are now available on the CDbaby.com and iTunes web sites. Their latest recording "Mobley St. Blues" includes 10 new compositions by Price and Paulson along with one new arrangement of a previously recorded tune. The new quintet includes John Paulson on saxes and flute, Larry Price on piano, Richard Hammergren, trumpet; bassist Karyn Quinn and drummer Rich MacDonald. These musicians in have over 100 years of collective experience playing and teaching jazz throughout U.S.A and internationally.

Dr. John Paulson & Larry Price seemed to have mastered the genre of classic jazz while adding a modern edge to these original compositions. Wonderfully written and skillfully arranged, "Mobley St. Blues" is hands-down my favorite jazz album of the year. Solos that soar, passages that energize the soul, and melodies that stick in your head, this ablum will please not only jazz enthusiasts, but anyone who loves music.
