J.P. Harrison's long-awaited first album, Storytime, is now available for discriminating collectors of family entertainment.
His stuff is well-recieved by kids and adults alike.
Still very much a kid at heart, J.P.'s themes are chosen with kids in mind, but written in a style that appeals to adults as well.
Eleven original titles, plus one favorite old standard make up the songlist.
J.P. Harrison gives kids credit for having a sensitivity and sensibility about the world around them, using lyical expression that never loses its grip on a strong poetic style.
Quote from the artist: The slogan, "KIDS ARE PEOPLE, TOO." isn't just a slogan, but words to live by!

A truly great children's album.
author: C Bell
J.P.'s lyrical style is sweet and full of insight into the relationships between children and their parents. The songs are infused with sensitivity and love, in a melow ragtime style that is fun to dance to with my little girl.
It features a couple of really sweet lullabyes as well. I love it, and I can't wait to hear what J.P. offers up next.

......a level of sophistication not often seen for kids......
author: Lee-ann Ross Hemphill
The more I listen to Storytime, the more I like it. There are no weak spots. J.P. Harrison has gone way beyond the usual offerings. This album has a level of sophistication not often seen for kids.
I like the album's mix; good shifts of tempo, and humorous versus more serious subject matter, which is appealing to all ages....a tough thing to do. It's definitely an album for thinking kids.
Gabriel's Tune, Silver Bell, and The Milky Way Clipper Ship are, quite simply, just absolutely beautiful songs. Try a Little Bit Harder gets me up dancing every time. I love the environmental songs. I'm proud to be an owner of this album! It's truly a great debut!

Lyrics that recognize and respect the intelligence of children
author: Mark David Dunn
Storytime, by Toronto-based songwriter JP Harrison, is one of those bits of magic that can lead a parent to lament: Where was this music when I was a kid? Luckily, for the children of today, here it is. A collection of twelve accoustic songs from a skilled and practiced storyteller.
Unlike many songs for children, the tunes on Storytime do not condescend. As the title implies, the lyrics are the main attraction. Harrison writes smart, funny lyrics that recognize and respect the intelligence of children. Although packed with positive messages, the songs do not preach; they tell stories.
Storytime is the kind of CD parents have been waiting for - the kind of album that will be around for a long time. These are songs that children will remember fondly throughout their lives. And for adults, Storytime is a bridge between the sometimes numbness of the daily grind, to a time of magic and wonder that is, after all, not so very far away.
