ABOUT MASTERPIECE
Music insiders and long-time fans have placed their seals of approval on the 13-song set. David McKinney at Music-Reviewer.com states “….the entire album is one of the most well-written I’ve heard in a long time;” and the staff at Indie-Muisc.com describes Masterpiece as an album of "excellent production, great vocals, nice grooves, quality songs!"
J. Phoenix co-executive produced Masterpiece with long-time collaborator, musician and producer Gary Haase, known for his work with such artists as Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, Randy Brecker and Michael Bolton.

Highlights from Masterpiece include “For The People,” the high-spirited lead song, called a winner and real crowd pleaser with good melodies and a great message," by the A&R team at Taxi.com. “Sweet Freedom,” has strong crossover appeal and is described by an A&R as “far from amateur with an organic quality, from the vocal performance to the music, a much needed break from the sexually driven songs that dominate the market.” “Hate to Love You” entered the Indie-Music.com charts as an editor’s pick and held both top 10 and top 20 spots. “Money Don’t Mean A Thing” won the Northeast Region championship at OurStage.com and was voted among the top 10 R&B songs by OurStage.com artists in the same month. The rock-driven “Heart Of A Soldier” and ”Conversation” are also touted as hits.

Masterpiece CD
author: A.C.
The title track alone is worth the purchase of this CD. J Phoenix is an accomplished artist (in his own right) and has the resume to back it up. But, very few R&B Artists are capable of exuding masculinity and vulnerability and at the same time . . . J Phoenix pulls this off very well… “He has produced a very strong and powerful project.” This Brother is a masterful songwriter and very accomplished vocalist. This project gets better with each track, and is one he should be very proud of. After he has completed his current European tour, I only hope that he will find the time to create a follow up project. “Maybe by then, the industry will wake up and give this artist the recognition he deserves.” But until that happens, be sure to check out this project. Stand out tracks include: track 3- Sweet Freedom. 7- Just Another Memory. 8 - Be Around. 11 - Heart of A Solider. 12 – Masterpiece, and 13 - Reflections of You.
