Album Notes

J.P. Mortier, citizen of the world, born in France and raised in Canada, is a passionate musician and artist. While in his teens, J.P. plunged in a musical ocean listening to the likes of Pink Floyd, Bowie, The Doors, Rush, R.E.M., Miles Davis and others who inspired him to write songs that were not only entertaining but more importantly..... meaningful.

At the age of 17, his parents gave him his first guitar for Christmas. With the help of Stéphane Pelletier, he was able to tame the instrument and unleash the melodies that were confined to his imagination.

J.P.'s first taste of the stage occurred in the fall of 1990, as he was invited to perform with avant-garde composer Rhys Chatham and his 101 Guitars during "Le Festival de la Nouvelle Musique" at the Metropolis in Montreal.

After completing his bachelor of fine arts at Concordia University in 1991, J.P. traveled to Japan: a turning point in his life and career. During his stay, he forged his new songs playing in the subways of Tokyo. His talent for songwriting blossomed as his lyrics and music finally came together.

He returned to Quebec, worked in film animation, obtained a teaching certificate in '96 and indulged in a few painting experiments and exhibitions.

In 1999, he obtained his degree in Audio Engineering Technology from "L'Institut d'Enregistrement du Canada". He has since worked as a sound engineer at Alexandre Stanké, Studio Terra Nova and Miadreamworld.com.

Finally, J.P. is ready to share his music. His debut album, entitled "The English House" and distributed by Eclectra Records, is mainly influenced by his Japanese experience. With this album, J.P. invites you to join him in a unique musical voyage.

......Fasten your seatbelts, the journey is just starting.
