Joe Paul Nichols “The Price Is Right” is a life long dream of Texas Country Music Legend Joe Paul Nichols. Nichols has long admired the music of Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price and honors his hero with a new twelve song tribute cd.

“We tried to portray the strong fiddle and steel sound Ray had during the late fifties and sixties,” Nichols said. “That sound is still heard across Texas and the Southwest today. I personally don’t think that this style, which Ray started many moons ago, will ever die.”

Nichols chose his twelve favorite Ray Price songs to include on the new album. There are many standards including “Invitation To The Blues” “One More Time” “Each Time” “Pride” “I’ll Be There” and “I’ve Got A New Heartache.” He also included a couple of lesser known songs from the Price catalog including the inspirational “Faith” and the Willie Nelson composition “You Took My Happy Away.”

This is the first project for Nichols under the Heart of Texas Records banner.

“What an honor to have a project from Joe Paul Nichols on Heart of Texas Records,” Heart of Texas Records President Tracy Pitcox said. “Not only is he a great singer, but one of the finest individuals in the Country Music business.”

“The Price Is Right” was recorded in Martindale, Texas, at the Justin Trevino studio, using the finest musicians in Texas including Dickie Overby on steel, Bobby Flores on fiddle, Floyd Domino on Piano, Jake Hooker on bass, Jim Loessburg on drums, Dave Biller on guitar and Trevino on acoustic guitar and harmonies.

“This is my twenty fourth album, and will be my last new CD unless God intervenes in my life,” Nichols said. “I was diagnosed with A.L.S. in September 2008. It has taken my singing voice away. It was working on me a little at the time I recorded this CD, but I didn’t know what it was. I can’t complain though, because God has allowed me to have a great career in Country Music.”
