Album Notes

JRK was born of boredom in 2003. Inspired by rioting Black Bloc peace activists and looting Raiders football fans, founding members decided that they should have some fun, too. Not being political activists nor Raiders fans, they started the band instead, originally called JERK (an acronym for Joe, Eric, Raglan and Kev) The band had a few starts and stops and the usual lineup changes, but now exists in nearly its original form (the only difference being that the J now stands for Jeffie) and is more solid than ever, laying down self-described “Fuck-You” punk rawk’n’roll with tongue-in-cheek panache. JRK takes their influences (including The Dwarves, The Dead Boys, and The Dickies) and throws ‘em into a big ‘ol pot of JRK stew, cooking up catchy, fast numbers that cover familiar topics such as intoxication, guns, girls, getting hurt, and getting hurt while playing with guns and drinking while thinking about girls, and intoxicated girls with guns getting hurt. They're a sure-fire good time and have developed a loyal following through frantic live performances, with past gigs resulting in broken bones, shattered instruments, and audience members drenched in beer. With the recent release of their debut full-length CD, "J.R.'s Killers” (recorded by Bart Thurber at House of Faith Studios in Oakland, CA.), the band looks forward to bringing more of their charming live antics to a dive near you.
