JR Lake was created when John Russo purchased a digital recorder and began producing his own original songs. John has a broad music background as result of both his brothers being musicians. Given a guitar at age 11, he began to write songs immediately. Secretly using his brother's equipment, he experimented with recording. The majority of demos were recorded very poorly using nothing more than cassette tape players. The dream began but was going nowhere.
Later John formed a cover band called "Far Mythe". The band played mostly original songs. Far Mythe never really got off the ground, so the majority of the public didn't hear John's songs. Now with the help of some fine local musicians and years of training in mixing and editing, the JR Lake Recording project has come into being. John displays different styles of guitar playing resulting from influences such as Rush, Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Peter Frampton. John's song, "November" made it on Syracuse's Y94 FM Christmas Time in Central New York CD, released in November 2000.
