Album Notes

For 20 years, The Jolly Rogers have performed the best that maritime music has to offer. They've played across the United States and were even featured at the internationally-renowned Shanties Festival in Krakow, Poland. This album, "SCORE", celebrates this important milestone with 19 tracks of incredible sea music. With only two exceptions, each song on the album was written by The Jolly Rogers and have already proven to be among the group's most popular offerings.

Every song has a wonderful story to tell, but there are some that are proving themselves to be notable:

"The Devil's Reach" details the wild exploits of a pirate captain faced with daunting odds as he is surrounded by a blockade; "The Tempest" tells of a ship's crew staring at their own destruction at the hands of a hurricane; "The Spirit of the Outlaw" traces a dark dynasty of criminals through history and "Twisting in the Valley" is a fun, bawdy romp through some suggestive tongue-twisters. "The Day of the Clipper", a classic sea song written by Steve Romanoff, features a guest performance by an amazingly-talented maritime band called Bounding Main whose rich and diverse harmonies bring this song to life.

"SCORE" is your chance to discover the incredible talent, energy and sheer fun that has made The Jolly Rogers one of the finest sea music groups for 20 years!

The best yet!

I love all of the Jolly Rogers' CDs, but this one is the best yet (and that's saying something since the previous titles were so outstanding). Funny, irreverent, and sometimes hauntingly beautiful, these tracks represent the Rogers at their finest. 20 years and still getting better all the time!

This album has quickly risen in my list of favorites. It is a great mix of sea stories, love songs, and rowdy drinking songs. The production values are excellent, and the Jolly Roger's musicianship makes every song a delight.

A terrific mix of sea shanties, drinking songs, comedy, ballads, and naughty songs that I can't let my Mom hear when I take her to RenFest once a year. Just what we want and expect from the guys, who have perfected their craft during 20 years of entertaining. Thanks for being the funniest, most talented, sexiest pirates ever!
