Spank Your Inner Child (SYIC) is an album of retro-tinged, progressive rock-based electronica from Jeffrey Ryan Smoots.

SYIC combines several music genres JRS grew up listening to: New Wave electronica, early industrial/electronic music (like Skinny Puppy) and guitar-oriented progressive rock.

The goal of this musical experiment was to see what electronica would sound like filtered through someone who loves progressive music.

SYIC approaches electronica with the same musical virtuosity that one finds among progressive musicians.

SYIC features sounds from Sonic Implants (www.sonicimplants.com).

Jeffrey has been spotlighted in Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine. He's had a number one MP3.COM instrumental hit with the song "Intro" (from the Wings of Gold album), and has seen several of his other songs reach the top 10 in their respective genres.

Jeffrey is endorsed by Dean Guitars, Dean Markley Strings, Morley Pedals, Sonic Implants Sound Libraries, and ADK Pro Audio Computers.

Jeffrey maintains an active presence on the Internet, hosting his own website (www.jrsmoots.com), and artist pages on MP3.COM (www.mp3.com/jrsmoots). He's written guest columns for several websites, including Guitar 9 Records, Insane Guitar, and Sounduser.com. His MIDI-based compositions appear on many websites throughout the Internet.
