Album Notes

Guitarist Jay Stapleton played his first professional gig at the age of 40 with Miles Ahead, a modern jazz quartet in Portland, Oregon. After two years of performing, touring, composing, and recording, he left the band to join the Noah Peterson Quartet, whose CD, "Live At Biddy McGraws," has received international airplay and acclaim. Noah decribes Jay's playing as, "The personification of cool -- spacious, understated, and flashing the right amount of heat in all the right places."

"Vaguely Feverish" is his first CD of original tunes, and it features some of Portland's best musicians. The music is moody and evocative, but never without a grooving, toe-tapping pulse.
