I was born in Vera Beach, Florida. My mother and Dad (Virginia & J.L. Story) raised 5 children while commercial catfishing as well as running a restaurant in Florida. My brother and I, along with 3 sisters were baiting and pulling trout lines as soon as we were old enough to start school. Although there wasn't much time for anything other than school work and chores, my parents bought me an 8-track player when I was around 7 yrs. old. From that point on, I was singing my heart out with the likes of Hank Williams, Sr., Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Johnny Cash. Now days I still like the Legends, but also have my new country favorites like Alan Jackson, Tracy Lawrence, Travis Tritt and George Strait. I also cannot forget my favorite ladies of country music Loretta Lynn and Reba.
I moved to Pulaski, TN in the fall of 1995 where I purchased a 20 acre plot of land and began the task of building my home. Still singing every chance I got, which was mostly church singings, I began to sing the good old Southern Gospel. I entered a talent search in 1998, which I managed to win. We produced a 3-song video and discussed the possibility of an album. I returned home to work and let the idea of an album fall by the wayside.
I met my wife Tina, while working as a mechanic at the school bus garage in Pulaski. She was a substitue bus driver at the time. I proposed to her in the middle of Walmart and we were married a few months later (July 28, 2000). She and I have been performing for the local nursing home and churches since then. She started introducing me to the world of Internet and got me back into some country music auditions. She has managed to help me get some songs recorded and played on local radio and is in the process of having a website built. I have performed once at the Wildhorse in Nashville as well as some of the Local Nightclubs and the Giles County Fair. We still perform for the nursing homes and local churches as much as possible. Tina has also managed to get some of my recordings played on radio in Sweden, Belgium, Austrailia and Spain.
I signed with KMA Records in Nashville, Tn in June of 2002. While trying to choose songs to record and still working full time, my wife and I put on a Talent Show in our home town. We called the show "Star Struck". We had barrels of fun and the show was a huge sucess. KMA President Keith Bradford was in attendance and visited with all the participants. During that time I also performed with Jean Shephard, and Jeff Hart at Camp Jordan in Chattanooga,TN. and in July, I made an appearance for Nashville on Stage with Debbie Simms. Good things keep happening and we are having a blast!! Now we are into the end of 2003, my CD with KMA called "One Empty Swing", is finished!!! I was nominated for "Artistic Award of Merit" at the 11th annual King Eagle Awards held in Nashville in Sept. I have also joined the Tennessee Country Music Alliance and will be performing in the shows throughout the next few months.
I have so many folks to thank for their help and support that I could never remember them all. There is one however who will always be thanked and praised no matter what my future holds. My Lord and Savior has always been there for me and has lead me this far. He will lead me on. He has blessed my life in so many ways and I thank Him each and every day. He has given me a voice to sing with and I will continue to sing whether it be for a paying audience, or for the elderly who pay you with smiles, hugs, or just that unmistakable twinkle in their tired eyes. Those twinkles are more precious than any other payment on earth. God Bless You.
I have been on the World Most Played Artist Chart at #41.
Have 2 award nominations in the Tennessee Country Music Alliance Awards Show coming up in Nashville,TN in April 2004.
My Cd is currently receiving airplay in Belgium,Netherlands,France,Scotland,Sweden,Australia,Denmark,Austria,as well as Maine,Tennessee,Florida and New Mexico.
I have radio stations which have not recieved their CD as yet in New Zealand, Washington D.C.,and numerous others I just haven't gotten to yet. I'm excited and hope anyone who purchases this CD will enjoy it.
Thank you.
