ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The long awaited debut recording from acclaimed flamenco guitarist Juan Rubio, La Cruz showcases his virtuosity in the true spirit of authentic flamenco guitar. Well known among his colleagues Paco Serrano, José Antonio Rodriguez and Vicente Amigo in Córdoba, Spain, Juan reflects the modern styles of these players while staying true to the traditional roots of the art. Juan has performed as a soloist in Spain, New York, Miami, Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Colombia and Puerto Rico. His playing is evocative of the true ambiente of Andalucia and its culture which gave birth to flamenco.

La Cruz displays a wide range of both solo guitar compositions and pieces accompanied by cajón, palmas, djembe, bass and baile. Tracks include two bulerías, soleá, sevillanas, tarantas, alegrías, colombiana and granadina.

This CD is a must-hear for any fan of flamenco guitar and world music in general. A soon to be released DVD documentary of Juan Rubio on site in Córdoba will contain live performance footage, music videos, and great film of historic sites in Córdoba including the Mezquita, Juderia, Feria, Plaza de Toros with incredible action of the famed bullfights of Córdoba. This DVD will be available by Rubio Records in 2008.

Khem

Very interesting I love this flamenco music first time listener.
This is my first time listening to a flamenco music and it is very interesting. I find this music enchanting. I can use this music to start my day especially when I am driving to New York or on a long trip. I think this music is also good to release stress. I will use this CD for a good day or a bad day.
