Born in the mysterious forests of Half Moon Bay California, Jubala began with a single riff played by Chris Lopez (guitar). With the help of Zack Singh (bass) & David Morgenthaler (drums), this riff formed the basis for the first of many original songs which over the years has evolved into an art-alternative rock infusion whose almost obsessive attention to high-quality music separates them from most on the rock scene today. In the years following the band’s relocation to Los Angeles, Sam Saletta (vocals) and Trevor Steer (keys) have completed the quintet.
The band combines soulful melodies and epic rock instrumentals, forming a sound that draws influence from groups such as Incubus and Muse while at the same time incorporating elements of jazz, blues, soul, classical, and whatever else they can get their hands on. Their diverse repertoire of songs is full of infectious melodies and chord changes, providing lyrics to make you cry with their poignancy, all done without compromising an edgy yet jovial complexity that is always full of surprises.
