Album Notes

Jubal Kane released their first album, Live Blues, October 2005 and was nominated for “Best Emerging Blues Artist 2005” by the King Biscuit Blues Festival, Helena, AR.

"The Allman Brothers at their bluesy best, and you've got an idea of the down-and-dirty grit of a Jubal Kane show. It's all swagger and bombast, the blues as interpreted by Bo Diddley and John Lee Hooker at their meanest." Steve Wildsmith The Daily Times, Maryville, TN.

"You really don't wanna miss this blues band, from the hot harp playing to the gritty guitars. They are the shit." The Empty Glass, WV.

Harmonica Player and singer Ace Anderson has played the blues from the Mississippi Delta through Memphis, TN to North Carolina, where he now resides.

Lead Guitarist and singer Otis Thomas, native of Illinois. Came to Charlotte through a couple of years of playing in Texas.

Rhythm Guitarist/Bass player and singer B.W. Carrigan, has played the blues for the past 40 years.

Jubal Kane has come together in a band that is unique while holding true to the blues.

Excellent stuff. Really good "bar band" sound. Nice to hear this style again in the era of over produced blues albums. Obviously influenced by Lester Butler / Red Devils but all the better for it. A real find. In addition. being a fan of Vargas Girls and WW2 airplane and leather flying jacket artwork, I loved the sleeve. Made a nice change from "standard" photography work.

Remember what turned you on to the blues? That driving roll and roll style.....right? Well, this disc will take you back. These guys are great. Heavy and sounding a little bit like the old British blues of the late 60's, early 70's. You won't go wrong with this disc.....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Jubal Kane will make you throw down your cane,Baby, and want to jump up and dance! What a great version of "High Heel Sneakers." Great blues licks with a harmonica that blows fire and blue smoke. If you like Hot Monkey love, The Red Devils, Fabulous Thunderbirds, or other blues with a rockin' harmonic - buy this 'un.

Jubal Kane’s “Flying High” is a refreshing, contagious collection of genuine blues tunes! “Come Home With Me” draws attention with its catchy bass groove and amazing electric solos. “Down to the River” follows suit with more amazing instrumentation, namely the beautiful harmonica riffs. Moreover, Jubal Kane flaunts an oldies, Presley-reminiscent vocal tone that is quite captivating. The songwriting on “Flying High” consistently demonstrates great talent, tackling the classic themes of life and love on the road. Production that emphasizes the great musicianship finishes off this blues collection nicely. If you enjoy the sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughan, you will absolutely love this CD!
