Album Notes

L.A.-based singer-songwriter Jude is back with Sarah, a collection of nine songs that are so great, his former label honchos are probably banging their heads against the wall right now. The album kicks off with the exceptional "Madonna," perfectly showcasing Jude's otherworldly falsetto complemented by understated guitar and gorgeous strings.
His music, while difficult to categorize, will appeal to fans of the emotional nakedness of Damien Rice (sans the histrionic edge), the smart-ass, rapid-fire delivery of Jason Mraz and the melodic sensibility of John Mayer, although Jude's been running his own show since these guys were picking their zits.
While his songwriting is solid as ever (if you have a decent radio station you may be familiar with past gems "Rick James," "I'm Sorry Now" or "King of Yesterday"), the album once again spotlights that voice and his talent of gliding seemingly effortlessly from his lower range to the stratosphere. -AW
Performing Songwriter

"The first thing you notice about Jude's music is, of course, the voice. Resonant and quiet, it has a duality that simultaneously smashes your heart in two at the same time that it lifts you up. There's sadness in his voice, even as he's singing something positive; somehow he's able to convey both ends of the spectrum at once."
"His latest album, a short offering titled, simply, Sarah, is about finding the harmony that exists between the highs and lows of life-both figuratively and literally. The music is lush, but amazingly sparse. The emotion is high, but amazingly restrained. In short, the album is amazing."
Christian Hoopes, UGO.com
" 'You are Madonna, you're lady divine, you are part Mother Theresa and a valentine, some man's pariah and a slippery slope, but to me you are the fire and I fly to my hope.'   In a refrain, Jude reassures all those who had seen in him one of the best songwriters of his generation. Jude is back. And his writing with him.
True nuggets of song-writing gold....One could criticize Sarah for its lack of pop and up-tempo songs (except Crescent Heights). But the pleasure of rediscovering Jude is much more important. 'Isn't it over,' he sings on the last song. No, 100 times no, it's not over. Quite the contrary. It's only just beginning again. For our greater pleasure. "

Just goes to show that melodic does not always mean mush, that sentiment need not be considered senile and....... that pleasing lyrics can also be posh!
