ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
JUDE EDWIN-SCOTT

Jude Edwin-Scott is an emerging folk artist on the London acoustic music scene. Deeply inspired by the beauty of life and nature, Jude manages to effectively express his ideals through his memorable, introspective songs of heartfelt warmth. A diverse musical history has enabled him to develop his own musical style, which includes distinctive finger-picking guitar, along with a calm and understated singing voice.

Born into a musical family in Chester, Jude was immersed in folk music from an early age. His parents were folk artists who gave him his first guitar at the age of 6. Straightaway, he formed his first band with his brother and sister and they gained experience performing at folk events. Jude became very proficient on the guitar and by the age of 13 he was a guitar teacher to his fellow school pupils.

His teens saw him move away from the folk scene as he explored heavier music. He got together with friends and played electric guitar in their locally successful heavy metal band. The band continued whilst Jude was away at college, however during this time, he found his musical tastes had broadened into rock music with a more melodic and acoustic feel. On his return from college, Jude found himself drifting from the band. As if coming full circle, he returned to his folk roots as he visited local folk clubs with his father and started to perform as a solo singer-songwriter.

Inspired by James Taylor and Neil Young, Jude began to focus on writing and performing his own songs. Wishing to express the same depths of emotion and integrity as his idols, his style took on its own folk shape. Encouraged by the audience response to his music, he became a prolific songwriter and began to record his songs at home. Jude handled the production for his first 3 albums - When The Bubble Burst, Love Is Real and Butterfly Blue – and he also played all the instruments including voice, acoustic and electric guitar, violin, piano, cello, mandolin and dulcimer.

In order to move ahead musically, Jude moved to London in 2000. He started to perform at popular open mic nights and gigs around the city, showcasing his songs. He continued to record and produced his 4th album, Tell My Heart, enlisting the musical talents of his friends and family, which included his brother Tom, sister Tessa and dad Geoff.

His latest album, Elephant Feet, also features performances from his friends and family. Released on his own label, Bellyhead9 Records, this is his first studio album and it was recorded in London’s Tin Pan Alley Studio and Gravity Shack Studios.

Jude’s love for music and creativity is evident in the 13 tracks on Elephant Feet. At times sweet, intricate and mellow and at other times upbeat and passionate, the album leaves you in no doubt that Jude wears his heart on his sleeve, possibly to inspire and encourage you to do the same. One thing is for certain, with so much experience under his belt and with his own Elephant Feet, Jude is now ready to move forward on his musical journey with confidence.
