Judith and Holofernes is Mark (bass), Stitches (6-string guitar), and Dos (12-string guitarra and vocals) with additional vocal contributions from Tracy. The music that they play is best described as "FadoCore," a mix of indie rock and a particular style of Portuguese folk music (fado) known for its obsession with anguish, longing, and the bittersweet twists of everyday life.
It started in 2002 after Mark, Stitches, and Dos had been playing together for years and in a variety of different bands. One trip to Lisbon and several months later, the band was up and running, playing shows between the Valley and the Bay, giving something new to local music, and breathing life back into fado.

A wonderful way to get in touch with your inner sorrow
author: dana turney
These beautifully crafted songs will nudge at the inner secret places of your mind. The blend of lyrics and melody penetrate and echo deep within. You'll come face to face with grief, longing and sorrow. The songs are seemingly simple on the surface but the complexity is lingering beneath waiting for you. I recommend this and the other Judith and Holofernes CD's. Folk Fado composition at it's best.

author: douglas mclellan
THE 21 minutes of music is very well produced . The lyrics touch on the human condition with all its anguish although the music is a blend of indie and folk it has something to say about our exisistence there is a contrast between the lyrics and the music with the music being upbeat and lyrics being quite melancholic ,a good contrast .
