I grew up in the seventies, when you could turn on the radio and hear the Eagles, the Carpenters or Linda Ronstadt singing "Desperado," when genre divisions between rock and country and pop and folk became blessedly meaningless. I stumbled upon a country AM station, WHN, there in northern New Jersey, and became a diehard fan of Tanya Tucker during her teen years, and Waylon and Willie and Dolly and Loretta, and Merle and Tom T. Hall . . . country music gave me a window onto the rest of America, outside of the greater New York area. I'm an unlikely person to be writing this music, I know, but I figure I'll just make that my shtick and laugh along with the rest of you . . . I'm getting some songs published in Nashville now, and I go there a lot; I've gotten some indie cuts and I dream of getting major label cuts. But meanwhile, I thought I'd put some of my songs out there, the way I sing them and hear them in my head and heart. I'm proud that a song of mine was a winner in Artists For Literacy's "Songs Inspired by Literature" contest in 2004 and will be on one of their CDs. Stop by my website sometime and say hello!

Bona-fide country from Brooklyn!
author: Ear Candy Magazine
Judy Klass,"Brooklyn Cowgirl" (Warp & Woof)
Hot damn! Who woulda thunk a bona-fide classic country album would come from a “Brooklyn Cowgirl”? Judy Klass delivers a country magnus-opus of no less than eighteen (!) songs on this release, with nary a bad song in the bunch. From classic country tear-jerkers to boot-skooting boogies, this album is so strong I just believe it could turn even the most skeptical music fan into a country fan. There are no less than three classics on this disc: “Drunk On One Corona”, “Sex With Your Ex” and “Elvis Lives”. Judy Klass has the talent so spread the word!

Good country
author: Kangar Radio
Judy Klass: Brooklyn Cowgirl
Genre: Country / Artist Site: www.judyklass.com / Rating by Kangar Radio: *****
From its opening track “Drunk on one Corona” to “Rescue Me” Judy Klass is in a Klass by herself playing good ole country music. It’s rare to hear today such a great voice with such good backing music in the Country scene. This is not new country this is the real deal country the way it should be played. If you’re a lover of K.D or Reba this is a must have in your country collection.

Lovely music, exceedingly clever lyrics
author: Martha Gershun
These lyrics will leave you giggling and chortling. A clever turn around every bend. And Klass' voice takes us through a variety of moods - from cynical to sweet to celebratory to raunchy. A wonderful CD to listen to over and over and over again.

Great album! Great down home country sound!
author: Steven Zelin
Great album to make you smile at every listen from one of the best newly discovered singer/songwriters. Insightful lyrics and great down home country band fills in the musical landscape to help keep your feet tappin'. I saw her perform at the Bluebird in January and I can't wait to see her next concert!
