An outstanding musical Jorney
author: Carl M. Nielsen
This is a exiting and surprising cd. Different from other jug music releases. Even different from other Juggernaut Jug albums. Well, every one who heard there other stuff, will recognise them imedialy. It contains all there trade marks from the crazt comic to the great vocal harmonies. But still, theres something different about "As We Like It". The folk, blues and trad. jazz ingredients are mixed with other influences, to create a fresh and magic musical blend. Theres a little input of 40's jump/jive/swing-directions, a tiny touch of coll jazz. Yea, that's even a twist of more modern jazzstyles. Not enough to scare anybody away. Just what it takes to make it surprising and refreshing. The country elements are used in a slightly different way than normal. Almost every track on the album points in a new direction. After the quite traditional opening with "San Francisco Bay", "Route 66" swings the ass off. A feww tracks later Beatles' "Obladi-Oblada" is handled in a great manner, with a brilliant triangle-intro. The barber shop oriented version of "Diga Diga Doo" is among the best recordings Juggernaut Jug have ever made. "Wipe Out" enters surf-rock in jug music. "Underneath The Greenwood Three" goes through a stripe of changes. Opens with a swingin' beat and beautifull vocal harmonies. Then jumps over to Doors' "Riders In The Storm" as a guitar solo only acompanied by jug, then changes in to a waltz that leads to the end. An outstanding track! "Ruckus Juice" takes you to the mountains of hillbilly and bluegrass. "You Gotta Have Skin" is superswingin' with elements of "I Got You Under my Skin". "Christopher Columbus" is a masterpiece in the straight jug style.
Theres a lot of good music here, an many kinds of music. This album takes you on a jouney through different traditions, styles and time periods. But all held together by the distinctive sound of Juggernaut Jug. Not just a collection of songs, but an album in its thrue sense!

Another superb offering from The Juggernauts
author: Tony Dunn
This latest offering from The Juggernauts is a superb contribution to the output of current crop of contemporary jug bands. Their reworking popular songs into the jug band idiom cannot be faulted and their version of "Ruckus Juice and Chitlin'" remains true to the jug band style. The writer was particularly captivated by "Fishing Blues", "Diga Diga Do" and "Gimme Three Steps".
