Album Notes

Currently based in Tokyo, Julianne began her musical life Sydney where she studied piano and played keyboards with several different bands, as well as working as a composer on various dance, video, television, and small film projects.

With a desire to live closer to nature she spent a number of years living in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney where, inspired by her surroundings, she eventually recorded and released Tales of the Heart, a solo album of ambient piano music.

Julianne then moved to Tokyo performing live, singing on studio sessions, working with Japanese artists and composing, writing lyrics and even exploring a bit of acting. She's also toured around Japan, was a solo artist travelling with a Unity and Diversity Music Festival around Russia's Far East, she's performed at the Manly Jazz Festival, Sydney, the largest jazz festival in the southern hemisphere.

Her new CD release, Timeless, took several years to complete. It was recorded at Troy Horse in Sydney with co-production and co-arrangement by Peter Kennard. Overdubbing was completed in Tokyo at Stephen McKnight's Thermal Studios, Andy Bevan's Ahatanada Studios and Akira Inoue's Pablo Workshop. The album was mixed in England by Stuart Bruce at Real World's Millside Studio and mastered by Yuka Koizumi at Orange in Tokyo. The music could be loosely termed as pop with a strong World flavor.

The album is an Enhanced CD, with a music video by Yoshino Kohei. An artist as well as musician, Julianne spent several months on the artwork and design, which evolved from something small and simple to a mini art collection - becoming a 6 panel digipak cover with 24 page colour song booklet full of beautiful images.

Julianne's Music and her soft yet strong voice induces Dreaming and Abundance in me. I am deeply touched by Julianne's gentle intuitive music, her voice and lyrial songs.

Lush, sensitive, jazzy edges, infectious percussion and a pure voice

Wistful, mysterious, at times almost sultry, Julieanne's clear soprano pulls the listener through these songs on a multi-colored silken thread. There's an interesting edge to her tone that keeps it from being merely pretty; I'd love to hear her explore that further. Although there is longing here, there is also satisfaction, and one is left with a sense of well-earned completion. The kicky exotic percussion keeps each cut moving right along--no time for sentimentality. This is a singer who smiles, but isn't sweet.
