This live recording captured a very special evening in the autumn of 2008, when Junk Poet took the stage once again to play for a packed house, after being broken up for 10 years, marking an exciting new beginning for the band.
"I'll admit it. I was a hell of a fan.
When I used to think of Junk Poet, I would think about potential unfulfilled. Chemistry unrealized.
The demise of Junk Poet seemed like a metaphor for a lot of our lives back then. Dancing through ritual fires and shouting at the top of our lungs... until we were so hoarse no one could understand what we were shouting about anymore.
We had worked SO hard, played SO hard and most importantly, DREAMED so hard that when the end came, all we could do was lick our wounds. And move on.
When we looked back, the band's memory was always spoken about with a hushed reverence, with a respect that only the people who were actually THERE know. The ones who were there. The ones who remember.
When I found out the band was not only re-uniting, but actively looking to the future, like many of you, I wanted to BE there... IN it, celebrating it. We've all walked down some crazy roads. We'd like to think we're all a little wiser, a little better than we were then.
The album you hold in your hands is an audio snapshot of an incredible autumn night that not only brought us all together to celebrate the past, and all of those memories, but to look towards the future. Their future, our future.
Not only has Junk Poet made peace with the past, it has done what few bands can do the second time around...
It really IS even better than it was the first time.
But, don't take my word for it, listen for yourself. You'll hear me singing along with the rest of the crowd. Smiling ear to ear..."
