Album Notes

My name is Julie Jurgens. I write songs, plays, stories, and checks. I dream in color, but usually see things in shades of grey. I hope to one day compose a decent sestina. I adore ellipses, parentheses, and horses. Without coffee, I am a sad tomato. I like to tell stories about the lives of jazz musicians and self-destructive poets. I try to use proper grammar but I cannot explain rules of usage to another person; hence, despite my major in English, I probably could not make it as an English teacher. On rainy days I play sad songs and think of where I’ve been and where I have yet to go.

REVIEWS

Not perfect, but definitely worth buying.
author: Joe Hecht
The songs on the cd are not all the same format, but that is one of the strong points of the artist. While most well-known and up-and-coming musicians and groups are putting out albums where all of the songs sound the same, Julie Jurgens has crafted a diverse album that doesn't blend together to become forgettable. Julie's voice is raw and truthful, adding an intimacy to her music that production often erases. The cd isn't perfect. In fact, there is actually a version of The Night We Met available for download that I prefer to the cut that made it on the cd. But the music is good and the CD is definitely worth buying.
