Justin Curtis and Sally Jo spend most of their time travelling from show to show singing about life's heartaches and love stories while Sally-Jo pounds out the rhythm on her upright bass and Justin strums along on his acoustic guitar. Recently they paused to get together with some of their friends to complete their fourth CD, Shoulda Known Better.
Shoulda Known Better was produced by their pal Russell Broom and features him on keyboards, mandolin, and guitar (electric, acoustic and lap steel). Added to the mix are other A-list musicians playing drums, piano, organ, harmonica, pedal steel as well as a couple of surprises.
Combining influences of Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Buck Owens, Stompin’ Tom, Mike Ness, Blue Rodeo and many others the CD is a fresh twist on classic roots rockabilly outlaw country music.
The Songs:
1. Nothing Lasts Forever (another great country divorce song)
2. Nashville Basement Apt. Blues (some things you never forget)
3. Lonely Side of Lonesome (exploring the fine line between depression and anger)
4. Old Fashioned Love (last chance for romance)
5. Scarlett Jayne (pretty name, pretty girl, broken heart)
6. The Prophet (the psych ward is no place to meet women)
7. Ride Into the Night (all about falling in love and running from the law)
8. Ring of Fire (fall in love and burn in hell)
9. The Ways of Love (how to get a girl to say "Yes" to your marriage proposal in 3 minutes or less)
10. No Apology Intended (only a booking agent could say this with a straight face)
11. Bye Bye Love (a happy tune about love gone wrong)
12. Spam (the unwanted email, not the unwanted lunch meat)
13. Get Rhythm (a rockabilly prescription)
14. Zombie Blues (the world needs more songs about zombies)

Shoulda Known Better
author: Danny Ramblin' Jack O'Connell
Justin Curtis (vocals, guitar, harmonica) & Sally Jo (upright bass, vocals) and guest musicians including Landon McCoy on drums bring honkytonk rockabilly to drawing room acceptance with original tunes written by Curtis along with a few choice nuggets from the American music catalogue. The band speak to the lovelorn heart with a raw/basic/everyman intensity, delivering storylines that bespeak to the inner recognition a listener gains by projecting themselves into the 'plot lines' of each tale. Don't get me wrong, it's not only introspective and contemplative as this music is worthy of a couple of ice cold six-packs on the hood or front porch with dancing optional. Justin's rich, baritone voice is smoothly unique as it conveys experienced authority in the pre-mentioned raw brilliance that will only improve as the years roll along. Sally Jo joins with harmonies that hits the mark like the sound of a dinner bell. The guest musicians are top notch. Bring on the fun, Justin and Sally Jo will take you along the destiny trail of rockabilly reality. By Danny Ramblin' Jack O'Connell
