Justin Hulsey : Light Up the Road

The struggles between love and letting go, the religious and the political, the dead and the dying are all here. With the combination of brutally honest lyrics that have the ability to make the listener think twice and musical arrangements that do nothing less than make those words truly come alive, there is not a dull moment on this album.

Album Notes

Originally from Kansas City, Justin Hulsey made Nashville, TN his home in 2002.

Since then Justin has had the chance to record with the likes of Brad Pemberton (drummer, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Brendan Benson), Lloyd Green (pedal steel player with credits to The Byrds, Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney and numerous others). Those songs turned into his previous EP "Four Songs."

Even under the influence of artists ranging from Jackson Browne to Radiohead, Hulsey is always searching and succeeding in finding his own voice.

Hulsey's latest effort "Light Up The Road" makes it clear that this is an artist unafraid to push the boundaries of the singer-songwriter genre. Recorded in Los Angeles, CA with producer Justin Glasco (multi-instrumentalist for Jessie Baylin, Cary Brothers, Gary Jules, Matt Kearney) "Light Up The Road" has some of Hulsey's strongest material to date.

The struggles between love and letting go, the religious and the political, the dead and the dying are all here. With the combination of brutally honest lyrics that have the ability to make the listener think twice and musical arrangements that do nothing less than make those words truly come alive, there is not a dull moment on this album.

Whether performing solo on stage or backed by a band, Justin Hulsey is definitely turning heads and "Light Up The Road" is only going to make that easier.
