First off, let’s make 1 thing VERY clear!
I LOVE SINGING!!!!!
When I recorded Past, Present & Future, I got such a feeling, I can’t describe it! It makes life seem SO worth it. When I sing, no matter what song, time can go for hours without me realizing!
I started singing when I was about 8 years old. I was taught by Liz Johnson, and soon after I started, I auditioned to be in the Mount Royal Junior Children’s Choir directed by Anita Perlau. After 1 year of that, I advanced into the Children’s Choir directed by Frances Chiasson. I spent 3 years with that choir where we toured Vancouver and the Maritimes. I also was in the Mount Royal Chamber Choir during the same period. In Grade 9, I joined the Mount Royal Youth Choir. I was the youngest member, and LOVED it! In this choir, I was taught by 3 different directors, David Ferguson, Arlie Langager, and Joe Slabe. I also was fortunate enough to go to Mexico when the Mount Royal Youth Choir celebrated it’s 25th year! I stayed with this choir throughout high school, which was a challenge on some days while I was also in the PVA Program at Central Memorial High School. In this program I was in the Chamber Choir, (only male) Concert Choir, and Vocal Jazz under the Direction of Anne Gardner. We also were taught music theory and history by Shirley Wright and Mike Gardner. In grade 12, I felt that I needed even more choirs, so I founded the Forest Lawn Children’s Choir with accompanist Dianne Korol. I had such a wonderful time teaching them. We performed around 8 times throughout the year, and finished with recording Wind Beneath My Wings in August of 2007. and along with that came the Forest Lawn United Adult Choir where I proudly sang next to my father as we were the fantastic Basses. I can’t believe that while being a grade 12 student, I was also in 6 choirs! Talk about work! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!!
I Have Loved every group I have been in from Pineridge Elementary School’s Children’s Choir directed by Kathy Kokot, to Keyano College’s Small Ensemble directed by Cara Brown. I am in college now taking Music and Education, and can’t wait to be finished so I can pursue 1 of my MANY dreams!
One thing I am MOST thankful for is my lessons from Liz Johnson that lasted 8 years! Without her, I would NOT be where I am today!
I want to thank all the teachers and mentors I have had throughout my life. You will never FULLY understand how much you all mean to me!
To the Listener, I hope you enjoy this CD.
Recording gives me such an amazing feeling,
and I hope you can feel the emotion.
The Title: Past, Present & Future, came to me because
the first 3 songs were recorded in 2003(PAST)
The Next 3 songs were recorded in 2007(PRESENT)
And the Last song is an outlook on one of my Future Dreams.
My intention is to teach, and I enjoyed teaching the
Forest Lawn Children\'s Choir 2006-2007.
My Thanks go to Meghan Kerr, Tayah Mueller, Jessica Sedgwick,
Courtney Woods, Kaylee Woods, and Kristy Woods,
who are the Children\'s Choir at Forest Lawn.
Their support and good work paid off and I loved teaching them,
and Had a ball when we recorded in August 2007.
Liz Johnson deserves my gratitude. She is instrumental in my formal musical education, also had the initial idea for me to record, where additionally she accompanied me for the first 3 songs, and has co-produced this album.
She is a true Friend and Mentor.
Additional Recognition of people\'s influence to my musical education goes to, Dianne Korol for her contribution, and Anne Gardner, for her personal attention to my endeavours. There are too many others to
thank in this format, and I cherish each and everyones contribution.
My religous upbringing has given me confidence in knowing that
the Lord will provide. My church family has given me
the encouragement and love to pursue my dreams.
The Biggest amount of thanks, goes to my parents, and my extended family.
Without their love and support, I would not have pursued my musical career.
I will cherish each and every one of you, for the rest of my life!
Thanks, and I love you with all my Heart!
Thanks for Reading!
