Album Notes

Area 51 is the flagship album from the Got Beats Recording label, hailing out of Detroit, MI. Not only is this piece composed, but also written by the Executive Producer of the label, Brian Garrett( J'Vaunte). Get ready for a calming journey of jazz fusion from R&B to House. Startup: "Desert Sands" is the song that relaxes the mind and soothes the soul. "Brimstone Orange" brings an electronica feel, propelling you effortlessly thru the first quarter of the CD. Making a retro turn, "Black-n-White" takes you back to "The Roaring 20's" with it's Big Band Swing sound. "Sax in the desert" slows the pace before "Believe in Life" thrust the album into the R&B realm. Who couldn't use a "Journey to Puerto Vierto" rounding off the CD, adding a taste of House to the last leg of the voyage. Enjoy your ride.

He's the keyboardist, live instrument player, producer & artist. All of these titles apply to the musician extraordinaire, J’Vaunte. Born Brian Garrett, the producer was introduced to the music world at the age of 5. Fast forward 29 years, & the multi-genre producer has come to be a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

As a young student of music, J’Vaunte would learn the piano through lessons & eventually go on to learn drums. By the time J’Vaunte reached High School, he would be fluent at playing a number of instruments. But during J’Vauntes’ senior year, he would find himself growing tired of music after leading the school band for two years as Drum Major.

As faith would have it, the then 20 year old producer would have a happenstance encounter with two aspiring talents during a bus ride home. “The two just started rappin' in the back of the bus. They had everybodys' attention. Hearing those two, & the energy they had, inspired me to reconnect with music."

“Does your group have a producer?” would be the question that sparked a slew of songs created between the talented trio over the past 15 years. Now going into his third year of “spot” touring with Aretha Franklin, the producer has learned a lot about another side of the business. “On the road, you realize that it’s a lot of hard work & planning put into entertaining your fans. I don’t think some people understand that. They only see the flash & fame of the business” J’Vaunte states. J’Vaunte has also collaborated with a string of well known performers. The list includes the infamous George Clinton, Techno music legend Kevin Saunderson, Keith Washington & Alicia Meyers.

What’s next for the one man production team? Only the future holds the answer. J’Vauntes’ Area 51 Jazz fusion album was released earlier this year. The next project, entitled Paraphernalia, is scheduled to be released Summer of 2007.
