The debut album of The Jacksonvillains, a smart pop trio, is a musical road trip that starts somewhere off of Interstate 95 in Northern Florida and winds its way through the caverns of Frank Zappa's notebook.
Embodying the spirit and subversiveness of the South, they have created a music that has caverns of its own.
The ten songs on this record blend sugary sweetness with the acerbic twang of that carbon monoxide-filled, concrete-doomed, high-hell-rise city on the St. John's River.
Traditional song structures are thrown out and replaced by the songwriting fistfights between bassist/vocalist Aimee Norwich, and guitarist/vocalist Sandra Covin, while drummer Robin Bordow breaks it up, always just in time.
There are songs about unrequited love, Satan, and the media, in a lyrical style that is a cross between Syd Barrett and Stephen Malkmus.
"1st" is a frenetic, imaginative debut effort that stretches the limitations and expectations of a power-pop trio sound.
The Jacksonvillains are now disband but former leaders Aimee Norwich and Sandra Covin, are still best friends and have ventured off into different directions with their careers. Aimee Norwich is currently living in Brooklyn, NY and has recently finished her fifth solo cd, "Making Friends", while Sandra Covin is writing poetry and fiction in Missouri.

Smart, catchy, wacky math pop. Good sing-along fun stuff.
