ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
J'Wan Yvette was born and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland. As a child she enjoyed writing poetry and songs and performing whenever and wherever possible. Singing became her passion from the age of 3. As a teenager she broadened her range and love for music while singing in her church choir and also singing and playing keyboards for two notable Washington, DC-area all-girl bands Genuine and Royalty.

J'Wan took a bit of a break from music when her daughter was born in February 2000. But in 2001 she was ready to go back to her first love and she established an independent label called JYMstone Entertainment. J'Wan enjoyed performing, writing, and working with her cousins - an urban female duo called Stylz A2Z. The JYMstone artists performed in numerous showcases and local venues with such notable artists as Harlem X.

J'Wan went on to become a regular performer at the legendary Bohemian Caverns night club in Washington, DC where such greats as Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holliday, and Cab Calloway once performed. In 2007 she was a featured performer grabbing the attention of music fans and artists across the DMV. Her single "What Could it Be" - produced by Bassheads - became a frequently requested song in the area, and is still a fan favorite.

In 2009, J'Wan Yvette's debut commercial CD "What Could it Be" became available on CDBaby and has grabbed the attention of fans worldwide. J'Wan is also a published poet and author. Her poetry book "Words of Love and Life: An Emotional Journey" and short novel "Invisible" are available now at Barnes & Noble stores, or online (see the Merchandise tab). Currently, J'Wan Yvette is performing at area venues in the DC-Metropolitan area and is recording songs for her next projects - a mixtape called Justified Madness (coming in February 2011) and her next album due out in the summer of 2011. The Official R&B Mixtape - Volume II is available for free download --> HERE.

J'Wan enjoys being a mother and her love for children has taken her life in a new direction. She currently works with elementary school children with Prince George's County Public Schools and is currently pursuing a BA in Elementary Education. She would also like to write a series of childrens' books with the help of her daughter Jessica.
