Album Notes

J Wheels & K'bana Blaq took 13 hours of "One Day" to create something that will last forever! J Wheels, Norfolk, VA native and producer of the duo, has been in the game since 2005, debuting on Canibus' album "Hip Hop 4 $ale" alongside of his mentor Nottz. Shortly thereafter, the flood gates opened for J Wheels to work with artists like Royce da 5'9", Jean Grae, Edgar Allen Floe, L.E.G.A.C.Y., Median, Termanology & Latoiya Williams to name a few. Although this is J Wheels' first endeavor into R&B, the transition has been seamless in large part due to the talent and experience of K'bana Blaq from the world renowned "Fuzz Band". K'bana Blaq has been the centerpiece of the Fuzz Band, handling duties ranging from songwriting to vocals, all while supplying an overdose of presence and swagger. Together, J Wheels & K'bana Blaq have created an ep of lavish style and grit. From the intense opener "Black City", where Blaq lets everyone know that he's a survivor in the harsh realities of urban life to the overtly honest ballad of "More Than Human". Also, be sure to check out The Fuzz Band for more material from K'bana Blaq!

REVIEWS

Like the more melodic side of Outkast, or the more interesting work of Prince, J Wheels & K'bana Blaq have created an idiosyncratic, gutsy, and totally ready for radio EP of soulful, quirky R&B and hip hop. You might know J Wheels from his production work with Canibus, Royce da 5'9", or Jean Grae, or perhaps you know K'bana Blaq from the world renowned "Fuzz Band". Amazingly created in just one day, this mini album is full of sonic layers, harmonies, and totally professional production. "I Still Believe" is a standout track with its synth bass, swirling background vocals, dense harmonies, and its sparse, start-stop drum loop. The song, like the album is a great example of modern R&B in a slightly experimental setting and it's a pleasure to hear.
