Album Notes

Planxty- a word of unknown origin, was used by Turlough O'Carolan in the second chorus of "George Brabazon", in English:

Him, Jam!
Planxty, merriment
Sing, dance, drink his health about!

After Carolan's death it came to be used in the titles of many Carolan tunes dedicated to specific persons, and has come to mean a tune written as a dedication to a patron or inspiration.

Pan- Greek, Πᾶν, neut. "All", the deity of wild things. Spanish, "bread."

Original melodies and improvisations dedicated to those who have inspired them. Native American flutes, shakuhachi, kantele, mountain dulcimer, Asian jaw harps, mbira, bansuri, synthesis and audio fractals.
