"'Unique' has generally come to mean 'slightly out of the ordinary,' but Samita Sinha's voice warrants the true meaning of the hackneyed accolade... mesmerizing." (Time Out Dubai 2003)
Though trained primarily in classical Hindustani music, Samita Sinha's repertoire spans a range of styles in several different languages. She experiments in synthesizing elements of Hindustani music with jazz, electronic music, and theater, creating new sonic intersections by bringing the "teeming phrasing she derives from deep Indian vocal traditions" (NY Resident, June 2006) to various contexts.
Presenting a new sound, Samita Sinha's KAASH fuses Indian music with a wide range of sonic textures and rhythms. MUSIC IS MUSIC we mean to say by playing in all these ways and singing in various languages, some known and others unknown even to us. Our roots run as deep as our restlessness; we've traveled and mined varied landscapes, soundscapes, and dreamscapes to make SEEP.
KAASH's debut CD, SEEP (SINJ RECORDS) features Samita on vocals, Sunny Jain on drumset/ dhol/ laptop, Jesse Neuman on trumpet/ efects, and Daniel Fabricatore on electric bass.
