Evocative lyrics, soothing melodies, and a unique singer/songwriter style describe the music on Laura's debut album, "Wake Me Up". Laura is a Nashville recording artist described as an anointed singer, songwriter, worship leader, musician and speaker. Having had a life-changing encounter with the Lord through worship, Laura wants to bring the beauty of God’s love to a broken world, see people’s hearts set on fire through the touch and presence of God and to glorify Him in all things. Laura is currently on the “Wake Me Up” Tour- An Awakening for the Heart – Concert and Worship - throughout the country and has performed in three Gospel Music Association Week Showcases in Nashville. Laura’s prayer is that her songs and testimony of Faith, Hope Love and Purpose will be a message from God’s heart and an awakening of the heart for you. Originally from Pennsylvania, Laura has resided in Nashville since 2006. She completed her 2006 debut Christian CD of all original songs, “Wake Me Up” with Grammy nominated producer Anthony Newett in PA and completed an EP, “Wildflowers” in 2007 of original songs with Grammy award winning producer John Carter Cash, son of Johnny and June Carter Cash at the Cash Cabin Studios, TN. She is writing new music and in the process of beginning work on her third Christian CD for release in 2009. Some of her songs have placed 4th, 12th, 23rd and 24th out of approximately 500 entrees on www.ourstage.com.
Laura has been singing in church and writing songs since the age of 10 when a gift surfaced as she wrote her first Christian song for her neighbor Rose who was dying of breast cancer. All were amazed at how God used this song to touch and strengthen Rose deeply. Laura has now written close to 100 songs to date, has studied voice with Susan Dash since age 14, and plays guitar, piano, flute and violin. She placed 2nd among 50 schools and 1000 participants in Pennsylvania Music Educators Assoc. vocal competition. Since she was a child, Laura dreamed of singing for a Disney movie and now she is the singer/songwriter for MelaoArts, Enchanted Characters from the Rainforest, animated films featured as hosts at the Denver International Film Festival along with Dustin Hoffman, whose goal is to soon be produced into a full length movie www.melaoarts.com.
Laura loves ministering to all generations in all church events, and is also passionate about women’s, youth and young adult ministry as reflected in her commitment as a ministry leader, youth leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. Since its inception in 2001, Laura has been the Worship Leader/Music Director, Co-Emcee for Jesus Fest, a branch of Worldwide Evangelistic Ministries, a quarterly festival that first began with 50 youth and grew to uniting 1000+ youth, young adults and all ages in worship and evangelism from over 150 churches throughout the NE. Hundreds of youth have given their lives to Christ and thousands have made recommitments through this ministry. Laura’s leadership is spearheading the ‘next level’ launch to a national level of Lifethirst Conferences, P2 Tour beginning in the summer of 2009 with the mission of unity, concert, worship, evangelism, teaching and prayer with major artists and speakers. She is also beginning “Lift Up University” teen girls and women’s conferences as an artist, worship leader and speaker with a mission of healing and restoration to women and girls of all ages. Laura will share through her music and message from God’s word that the Lord is the ‘lifter’ of our heads and sees us as His beloved, beautiful and complete in His eyes.
Laura is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and among many honors and awards, Laura was recognized as “Montgomery County’s Outstanding Young Woman” for Academics, Leadership, Talent and Citizenship. While at the University of Pennsylvania, Laura was selected as a lead vocalist in “Full Measure”, the critically acclaimed Christian a capella group who ministered extensively on and off campus and was a soloist on their album “Not for Nothing”. Laura also served as Worship Leader for Penn’s Campus Crusade for Christ. Laura recently returned to Penn during her “Wake Me Up” Tour and touched many student’s hearts. As a result, Laura was featured in an article for the Ivy League Christian Observer publication.
